Sorry it's been so long since my last post. Nothing very new and exciting has been going on. Not until very recently at least, and I'm sure it's not exciting for anyone but me. Not that I care much. I'm bored, can't seem to get my head into writing, and feel the need to do *something*, so I'm posting yet another fascinating message on my blog.
I guess since I'm a writer I should talk about my writing news first. I've made my first print sale. And I'm actually getting paid. Damn good feeling to get paid for your work, let me tell you. My erotic horror story "Jaded" will appear in the first issue of Scared Naked magazine. It is due to be published in December. So I'm very happy about that. Unfortunately, that's the only real writing news I have. Wish I had more to announce, but alas, tis a slow time in submissionville. But you can always check out my webiste (http://www.geocities.com/meghanfatras) for updates. I have to update the site some time today or tomorrow, but I'm lacking the energy at this moment.
Other exciting news: Meghan is buying a new car. Yup. It's a done deal. I'm finally buying a brand new car. I've been driving the same piece of shit for 4 years. A Ford Escort ZX2. Word of caution, don't buy a Ford. Sorry if I'm offending Ford lovers, but I've owned may Fords in my day, and they all sucked. With the exception of my truck. Ford makes good trucks. But I digress. So I'm buying a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally Edition. Very nice. I wanted a four door this time, you need room when you have a seven-year-old. And it's really cute. I'm getting it in silver and...gasp...a stick. Do I have any idea how to drive a stick? Not a friggin clue. My husband insisted on getting a stick. I just hope I don't break it. Should be picking the car up on Saturday, barring any unforeseen circumstances. So my weekend will be happy.
I'm also in a good mood (even though I'm exhausted from it) because I finally got to see Korn live. Went last night with a bunch of friends to the Pop Sux tour. Trust Company, Disturbed, and Korn. I've dug Korn for a long time now, but it remained one of the few bands I like that I had never seen live. So last night I accomplished yet another of my life's goals. heh. We missed TC, but I don't care, I've never even heard of them. Disturbed were incredible as always. I'm not hugely into the new stuff, but they played all my favorites from "The Sickness." Korn blew my mind. They are just incredible live. They were dead on for the whole set. Absolutely amazing. And the huge screen (resembled a television) showing creepy images just added to the atmosphere. Came up with a couple of good story ideas. Thank you Korn! And I have to say, Jonathan coming out in a kilt, playing the bagpipes (for Chutes and Ladders, one of my favorites) for their encore was awesome! All in all, a good time. Couldn't get drunk (and those who know me understand how painful that is for me) because it was a week night and the job from hell awaited me this morning. So here I am. Wasting work time. I just can't seem to focus on an article about workplace ethics after a show like last night. heh.
So what else is new? I'm throwing a Halloween party this weekend with my friends Mary and Laura. Should be a good time. We decided on a Poe theme, but we expect many of the guests to be party-poopers. Such is life. Still, the booze will be flowing and the treats will be fresh out of the oven. I'll be sure to take pictures and stick them up on the site. Quite a few fellow horror writers will be in attendance.
Going to Chiller Theater on the 26th. I'll be sure to snap pictures with Doug Bradley (Pinhead). God I love that man. :) He and Angus Scrimm (The Tall Man) are my two favorite villains of all time. I always rooted for them instead of the "good guys."
Ok, I'm afraid this post has just been boring rambling brought on by the lack of interest in work today. I'm off tomorrow (can I get a halleluja?) and plan on cramming some writing time into my busy cleaning/shopping schedule. Hopefully the next time I post, it will be a tad more interesting. Actually, I should post after my first "lessen" in driving a stick. I should bring a video camera along, it'll be hliarious I'm sure. Till next time...
