Finally Home

Well, now that was one hell of an experience. :) Went to the doc about 2:30 Thursday afternoon. My protein count was up, so they sent me to the hospital for a blood test. While I was there being monitored, my blood pressure went up, so they decided that since I was going to come in the morning to be induced anyway, they might as well induce me then. I got the meds at about 6:00 Thursday night. Contractions started coming about an hour later. 25 hours and 4 epidurals later (they kept wearing off) the doc decided that the baby was not going to come on his own. I just wasn't progressing like I should. So the decision was made to give me a C-section. This was one of my biggest fears throughout the pregnancy, but after 25 hours of pain, I gave in quite easily.

So Andre Robert Fatras was born Friday night, March 26th, at 9:11 pm. He was 8 pounds 8 ounces and 21 1/2 inches long. He looks just like his father. I swear, take Fran's face and put it on a tiny head, there you have it. I was in the hospital until yesterday. Besides a longer recovery because of the C-section, I also went aneimic (sp?). So I was there for awhile. It feels good to be home, but I sure do miss being able to send him to the nursery at night so I can sleep. He has his days and nights mixed up. He's up every 20 minutes or so at night, just doesn't feel like sleeping. But he naps for hours at a time during the day. This I have to nip in the bud...if I only knew how. :)

So we're doing well. I'm still a little wobbly, but the pain meds help. I get my staples taken out on Saturday and hopefully I can resume all my old habits within 6 weeks. One good thing I can say is, I'm not allowed to lift, vaccuum, or so anything too strenuous for awhile. I will fully be taking advantage of that!

Fran has been wonderful through it all. He knows it was hard on me, and since I wasn't able to get out of bed for a couple of days, he did all the diaper changing and really helped out a lot. He's so in love with this baby, I just love watching them together. :)

Well, I can hear him stirring now. Time to go. I just want to thank everyone who sent me well wishes and their congrats. It means so much to us. :)

Till next time....

(And as soon as I can figure out how to post a picture here, I will!)
