Meghan's Actually Not Wallowing In Her Own Misery
Yeah, that's right. I'm not going to cry and whine today. Not because I'm full of shiny happiness, just because I don't have anything in particular to bitch and moan about. So I count that as a good day.
I'm really going to try to write in this thing more often. If all I do is bitch, no one is going to care enough to keep coming back. So instead of waiting for one of a my manic moods or depressive states, I'm going to try to use this blog as a daily journal. Maybe then I can keep track of my thoughts and get back to writing fiction.
Haven't been writing much lately. Tis the season I guess. Plus there's been so much other stuff going on. I haven't had a free weekend since September. Heh. Busy is better than bored I guess. I've been reading piles of submissions for Flesh & Blood. Things are going good there. I enjoy working with Jack and Rob. What I don't enjoy is having to read piles of manuscripts that look like they were banged out in a day and never even looked at before being stuck in an envelope and sent off with an SASE. I think I'll have to write an article about my pet editing peeves, maybe I'll post it here or the site. I'll keep you informed.
The Garden State Horror Writers holiday party is this Saturday night. It's at a Hibachi place. Should be lots of fun. Yours truly put it together this year, so I'm excited about it. It's always nice to just bullshit with fellow writers over good food and lots of drinks. Those are the times l look forward to the most. That's why I love conventions. Sure, I get something out of the panels and buy lots of shit in the dealer's room. But I mostly enjoy hanging around the bar or in someone's hotel room just talking shop, or not even shop. Talking about anything and everything with me peers. I really look forward to the summer, when most of the cons hit. Won't be able to make World Horror 2003, it falls on my anniversary. April 20th. My hubby is supportive of my writing, but I don't think he'd appreciate me running off to Kansas City on our second anniversary. We certainly both can't afford to go...so I'm skipping it. Won't make it next year either, as London is a bit out of my league financially. But I will be going to Necon and Horrorfind, not to mention Jersey Devil Con and Chiller Theatre. There will be plenty of chances to BS.
Went to a friend's release party this past Saturday. Mary isn't just a friend, she's almost family...and not just because she's been dating my husband's cousin forever. :) It was a lot of fun and I was so happy to see Mary so happy. It was really quite exciting and helped motivate me to get my collection finished so that maybe next year we'll be doing it again for me. I'll give her a quick plug: Go buy Mary SanGiovanni's UNDER COVER OF NIGHT, a short story collection that includes 7 tales of horror, dark fantasy, and dark sci-fi. You can get it through www.shocklines.com, www.fleshandbloodpress.com, www.amazon.com, or her website, http://marysangiovanni.tripod.com. It's also available at most Borders and Barnes & Noble stores. Ok, plug over. :) I actually edited this collection. My first big editing gig, and I'm glad it was for a friend.
I guess that's all that's going on for now. I could go on and on (bored at work today) but I really should try to write some fiction. Wish me luck!
